Homeland Security, Emergency Preparedness, & 9-1-1

The main function of the Department Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness is to safely and effectively manage technological and natural disasters. This is done through the management of the preparation, response, and recovery phase of any incident. This office works closely with parish employees, fire department personnel, local, state and federal law enforcement, industry and hospitals, the Louisiana Office of Emergency Preparedness, and numerous other agencies, to assist the public during a disaster.

The 9-1-1 office is also located within this department. This office assists residents in creating new addresses, and administers and manages the 9-1-1 Communications System. In addition, all Parish Public Safety Communications and Radio systems are coordinated by this office.
