TOWN OF ADDIS MINUTES

A special meeting of the Mayor and Town Council for the Town of Addis was called by Mayor Bourgeois to pay bills presented; adopt the 2005 budgets; consider a request for an open container permit; award the contract on the road bore for the sewer project; discuss Acadian Crossing subdivision; consider the 2004 audit engagement letter, and discuss any other business which is properly brought up.
Mayor Bourgeois called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. and led the Pledge to the Flag.

Roll Call: Present: Mayor Bourgeois; Councilmen Cazes; Gauthreaux; H. Landry; J. Landry; Parrish.
Absent: None

Bills: A motion to pay bills presented, which are found in order, was made by Councilman Cazes, 2nd by Councilman J. Landry and adopted.

2005 Budget: Mayor Bourgeois opened a public hearing on the proposed 2005 budgets for the General Administration and Sewer Funds. Following the public hearing, a motion was made by Councilman H. Landry, 2nd by Councilman Cazes, to adopt the 2005 budgets, as presented. The motion was adopted. Copies of the budgets are attached to and made a part of these minutes. The budgets can be viewed at the Town Hall during regular office hours.

Open Container: A request by Mr. Joseph Landry for an open container permit for a Christmas party on December 18th at the Civic Center, was approved on a motion by Councilman Cazes, 2nd by Councilman Gauthreaux and adopted.

Lighting-Benedetto’s: A discussion was held on the need for lighting in the vicinity of Benedetto’s Supermarket. A motion was made by Councilman Cazes, 2nd by Councilman J. Landry, to authorize Mayor Bourgeois to contact Entergy to do a survey and install lighting (possibly 4 lights) in this area. The motion was adopted.

Sewer Road Bore: Oscar Boudreaux, engineer, advised that the bids received on the sewer road bore were reviewed and found to be in order, and no request for withdrawal of a bid was received. He recommended acceptance of the low bid.
A motion was made by Councilman Gauthreaux, 2nd by Councilman Parrish to accept the low bid of $28,000.00 submitted by Tullier’s Services, Inc. for the sewer road bore to Sugar Mill Plantation; further, to authorize Mayor Bourgeois to sign the contract and/or any other papers connected with the contract. The motion was adopted.

2004 Audit Engagement Letter: Mayor Bourgeois presented the audit engagement letter for the 2004 audit, with a fee of actual cost, not to exceed $7,200., submitted by Kathleen Beard, CPA, which was accepted on a motion by Councilman Cazes, 2nd by Councilman Parrish and adopted.

Acadian Crossing Subdivision: Problems areas, where the sewer lines crossed the road in Acadian Crossing Subdivision were reviewed. Several of these areas have been repaired. Others will be checked periodically for potential problems.

Additional Agenda Item: A motion was made by Councilman H. Landry, 2nd by Councilman Gauthreaux, to add a matter concerning Hubert Dupuy Street to the Agenda. The motion was adopted.
Councilman H. Landry advised that a cane combine with metal cleats was run on Hubert Dupuy Street leaving groves in the roadway. This matter will be looked into further.

The meeting was adjourned at 5:23 p.m. on a motion by Councilman J. Landry, 2nd by Councilman Parrish and adopted.
