Special Meeting: November 19, 2003

TOWN OF ADDIS MINUTES

A special meeting of the Mayor and Town Council for the Town of Addis was held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at the Addis Municipal Center. The meeting was called to pay bills presented; consider an open container permit request; introduce Ordinance for annexation of Sugar Mill Plantation; discuss police business and discuss any other business which was properly introduced.

Roll Call: Present: Mayor Bourgeois; Councilmen Cazes; B. Landry; H. Landry; Gauthreaux; Parrish.
Absent: None

A motion to pay bills found in order was made by Councilman Gauthreaux, 2nd by Councilman H. Landry and adopted.

A motion to grant an open container permit to DynMcDermott/Cathy Prejean for a company Christmas party on December 3rd, was made by Councilman H. Landry, 2nd by Councilman Cazes and adopted.

An ordinance to annex property known as Tract A, Sugar Mill Plantation, into the corporate limits of the Town of Addis, and publish a notice to hold a Public Hearing on the Ordinance at the December 17th special meeting, was made by Councilman H. Landry, 2nd by Councilman Cazes and adopted.

At 7:03 p.m. a motion to go into Executive Session to discuss police personnel business was made by Councilman Gauthreaux, 2nd by Councilman Cazes and adopted.

At 7:16 p.m. a motion to return to Regular Session was made by Councilman B. Landry, 2nd by Councilman Gauthreaux and adopted.

Mayor Bourgeois advised that a matter of police personnel was discussed in Executive Session.

As a result of Executive Session, a motion was made by Councilman H. Landry, 2nd by Councilman Cazes, to accept the recommendation of Chief Anderson and hire Travis J. Morris as a full-time officer at a salary of $1,450.00 per month, contingent upon his giving notice to his present employer, with starting date effective upon his report to work. The motion was adopted.

Mayor Bourgeois advised that an LCDBGrant has been applied for to further improve the sewer system, with Paul’s Lane being included in the grant application. The Parish has agreed for Addis to apply for Paul’s Lane.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:25 p.m. on a motion by Councilman B. Landry, 2nd by Councilman H. Landry and adopted.
