Special Meeting, Town of Addis, Monday, October 9, 1995
TOWN OF ADDIS MINUTES
A special meeting of the Board of Aldermen for the Town of Addis was called by Mayor Bourgeois and held at 7:00 P.M. on Monday, October 9, 1995. The meeting was called to discuss revisions to the subdivision ordinance; IIMC conference; lease on the new fire service truck; and repairs to Station #1.
Roll Call: Present: Mayor Bourgeois; Aldermen Berthelot; Cazes; Landry; LeBlanc; Parrish.
Absent: None
A motion was made by Alderman LeBlanc, seconded by Alderman Landry to pay expenses for Sandra Broussard and Vera Lucas to attend the IIMC conference in Biloxi, to include registration fee $40.00 each, hotel $74.00 per night plus meals and travel expense. The motion was adopted.
Following a lengthly discussion on revisions to the subdivison ordinance, a motion was made by Alderman LeBlanc, seconded by Alderman Berthelot to introduce an ordinance to amend the subdivision ordinance and publish a notice of a public hearing to be held at the regular meeting of November 1, 1995 with action on the ordinance to take place following the public hearing. The motion was adopted.
In further discussions on the subdivision ordinance, a problem with a subdivision of property located along Peter Messina Road was discussed. A motion was made at 8:35 p.m. by Alderman Landry, seconded by Alderman Cazes to go into Executive Session to discuss what action was to be taken concerning the sale of two 3 acre tracts on Peter Messina Road Road which are in violation of the subdivision ordinance. The motion was adopted.
A motion to return to regular session was made at 9:20 p.m. by Alderman Berthelot, seconded by Alderman Cazes and adopted.
Mayor Bourgeois advised that the purpose of Executive Session was to discuss a violation of the Subdivison Ordinance. He advised that as a result of Executive Session it was the position of the Board of Aldermen that the Heirs of Theresa T. Messina are in violation of the Subdivision Ordinance, particularly failure to submit a plat of subdivison under Sec. lAl and lA2 for all sales instituted with the resubdivision of the property after the first sale.
A motion was made by Alderman Berthelot, seconded by Alderman Parrish affirming the above position and giving the Heirs of Theresa T. Messina thirty (30) days to institute compliance with the Subdivision Ordinance, then sixty (60) days to complete compliance or the Town attorney is authorized to institute civil proceedings against the Messina Heirs to obtain compliance. The motion was adopted unanimously.
There being no further business to come before the Board, a motion to adjourn was made at 9:32 p.m. by Alderman LeBlanc, seconded Alderman Ca s and adopted.
