VILLAGE OF ADDIS REGULAR MEETING
The regular monthly meeting of the mayor and aldermen of the Village of Addis was held on October 3, 1973 with the following members present: Mayor Earl Deville, Jr., Warren Fitzgerald, Riley Berthelot, and Peter M. Strauss, Jr. Absent: None
The bids submitted for the blacktopping of the streets of Addis were opened and read aloud by the engineer, Mr. Smith. A motion was made by Mr. Fitzgerald, seconded by Mr. Strauss and carried that these bids which were received from Industrial Interprise, Atlas Associated, Inc., Howard J. Teckel, and Dub Johnson, Inc. be taken under advisement.
There will be a special meeting on Tuesday, October 9, 1973 at 6:00 PM.
A motion was made by Mr. Fitzgerald, seconded by Mr. Berthelot and carried that the traffic signs needed should be ordered by Mr. Strauss.
The Council would like to have a master copy of a map of the Village of Addis which would include the future boundary lines of the town if they are ever extended. Therefore a motion was made by Mr. Fitzgerald, seconded by Mr. Berthelot and carried that Mr. Strauss make the necessary plans to ‑,have this done.
The Department of Public Works of the State of Louisiana is making a complete survey of all the water outlets of the Village of Addis area. This explains the presence of the surveyors working in this area. They are not here to dig ditches but only to see what can be done to help drainage.
A motion was made by Alderman Fitzgerald, seconded by Alderman Berthelot and carried that Halloween be celebrated on Wednesday, October 31, 1973 from 1:30 PM to 6:30 PM only. The children who "Trick or Treat" must not be over twelve years(12) of age. It was also stated that the children should visit only the homes in their immediate neighborhood.
The council was given a demonstration of a copying machine by the sales manager of the Lanier Company. It still has not been decided just which machine they will buy.
Bills were approved for payment.
There being no further business a motion was made by Mr. Berthelot, seconded by Mr. Fitzgerald and carried that the meeting be adjourned.
