SPECIAL MEETING OF THE TOWN OF ADDIS, Wednesday, June 16, 1982 at 7:00 P.M.

A special meeting of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen for the Town of Addis was held on Wednesday, June 16, 1982 at 7:00 P.M. to discuss garbage collection; cost of grass cutting; State LIFE fund; upcoming election; and the resignation of a member of the Planning & Zoning Commission.

Present: Mayor Bourgeois; Aldermen Carroll; DeBlanc; Fitzgerald; Guidry; Myhand.

Absent: None

A discussion was held on grass cutting of large tracts of land and the cost of said grass cutting. It was decided that the rates for these larger tracts of land or acreage would be at the same rate as regular lots. It was pointed out that owners of these large tracts of land could hire a private contractor to cut these tracts.

Mayor Bourgeois advised that approximately one‑half of the State Funded "LIFE" fund has been received.     He pointed out that a portion of this fund's receipts has previously been allocated to road repairs. The use of the balance of the fund will be discussed at a future meeting. A letter received from LMA advised that this fund will probably not be available next year.

Mayor Bourgeois advised that he spoke with Mr. Rittiner of Rittiner Equipment Company who has a 20 yard, diesel garbage truck for sale at $54,000. A discussion was held on the upkeep of the truck and various expenses involved .in the town handling its own garbage pickup. The Mayor asked that all Aldermen keep this problem in mind so that some firm deci­sion can be made before the garbage contract comes up for renewal at the end of the year.

The Mayor advised that he talked with Clerk of Court Tom LeBlanc who advised that qualifying for the September 11th primary election would be July 6th through July 9th. Mr. LeBlanc further advised that if it is absolutely necessary for someone to qualify on Monday, July 5th, he can be contacted at his home. The position for one alderman for the town of Addis will be listed on this ballot.              

The town clerk was instructed to put flyers around town to notify the public of this upcoming election.

Mr. Fred Olsavick resigned from the Planning & Zoning Commission due to a change in his working hours. Several names were mentioned as a possible replacement. These people will be contacted to see if any are interested in the position.

The Mayor announced that the CRPC supper for the month of June would be held in. Port Allen on the third Monday of the month at the KC Hall. He also announced that the LMA Convention would be held in Lafayette on August 12 ‑ 15, and the LMA District F meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 29, 1982 in.Slidell.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned on a motion by Alderman Fitzgerald, second     by Alderman Carroll.
