VILLAGE OF ADDIS SPECIAL MEETING

The mayor and aldermen of the Village of Addis held a special meeting on Thursday, July 22, 1976.

Present: Mayor Warren Fitzgerald, Aldermen Robert Rabalais, Hilton Guidry, Jr., and B.J. DeBlanc, Jr..

Absent: None

Minutes of the special meeting of July 13, 1976, were read and adopted on a motion by Mr. Rabalais, seconded by Mr. DeBlanc and carried.

The grass in town on private lots is now being mowed for the last time. In the future it will be the responsibility of the owners to see that it is mowed. An ordinance to this effect was adopted in June 1976.

Representatives of the firm of Barnard and Thomas Engineers were present to discuss phase one, which has been completed, of the proposed sewerage system. This consisted mostly the applying for the grant, confirming what areas are to be included and what system would be best suited to meet the demands.

Phase two will cover the process of securing land to build the pumping stations and the filtering plant and bed. Also to determine the best suited and most economical place for the proposed pipe lines. All of this has to be done before any bids can be let. Public meetings will have to be held before any final decisions can be made.

The following commissions were assigned:

Street Lights: B.J. DeBlanc, Jr.

Roads: Robert Rabalais

Drainage: Hilton Guidry, Jr.

Grass Cutting: B.J. DeBlanc, Jr.

Building Custodians: B.J. DeBlanc, Jr. and Lyman  
                                  Marchand, Jr.

A motion was made by Mr. DeBlanc, seconded by Mr. Guidry and carried that Robert Rabalais be appointed Mayor Pro Tern.

A motion was made by Mr. DeBlanc, seconded by Mr. Rabalais and carried that Floyd JohnRichard be taken on the police force as an auxiliary policeman.

It was decided that the zoning and planning committee should be reorganized.

The council would like to again meet with the railroad officials to get save help with the cleaning of the culverts under the tracks and the ditches along the tracks.

The town office is open all day on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The hours are from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM and from 1:30 PM to 4:30 Pm.

There being no further business a motion was made by Mr. Rabalais, seconded by Mr. DeBlanc and carried that the meeting be adjourned.
