January 20, 1949

 The regular meeting Village Council Addis was held this date with the following present:

G.E. Booksh—Mayor

W. Rabalais—Alderman

J.C. Burton—Alderman

Absent

Alderman A. E. Fitzgerald

A Quorum present.

Minutes of previous meeting were read and on motion Alderman Rabalais, seconded by Burton, approved as read. Moved by Rabalais seconded by Burton.

Bill for cutting weeds on vacant lots account fore hazards and owners of property not residents amounting to $11.00 approved, and Clerk instructed secure addresses and bill owners for the amount thus expended.

The matter of installation of caution light at intersection Main Street and Paved Highway was discussed at length. It was deemed desirable that such light should be installed and the Mayor was instructed to get estimate from Gulf States people and if funds available arrange for the installation of same.

The mayor presented Contract for lighting streets by Gulf States Utilities Company.

By Alderman J.C. Burton, seconded by Alderman Rabalais, Mayor and

Be it resolved by the Board of Aldermen of the Village of Addis, Louisiana in regular session thereof on this, 20th day of January 1949, that the Mayor be and he is hereby authorized and directed to forthwith execute that certain Street Lighting contract arranged by him and the Board of Alderman, by and between the Village of Addis and the Gulf States Utilities Company for operating and maintaining a lighting system to provide street illumination in the Village of Addis said contract to be for the five {5} year period dated from the first {1st } day of February AD 1949 to the first {1st } day of February A D 1954 and the Village Clerk of the Village of Addis is hereby ordered and directed to attest said contract.

Note:

Due to illness and confined to bed, Alderman Fitzgerald requested this note being made part of the above resolution, requesting that he be recorded as voting in the affirmative.

There being no further business before the Board and on motion Alderman Burton, seconded by Rabalais meeting adjourned.
