VILLAGE OF ADDIS MINUTES, February 1, 1977

The mayor and aldermen of the Village of Addis held their monthly meeting on February 1, 1977.

Present: Mayor Warren Fitzgerald, Aldermen Robert Rabalais, and B. J. DeBlanc, and Hilton Guidry, Jr..

Absent: None

The minutes of the meetings of January 4, and 18, 1977 gyre read and adopted on a motion by Mr. Rabalais, seconded by Mr. DeBlanc and carried.

A motion was then made by Mr. DeBlanc, seconded by Mr. Guidry and carried that the following ordinance be offered for adoption.

ORDINANCE

A no parking ordinance on certain streets was discussed. These designated streets are Harris, Main,Eudora, Myrle, Foret, Myhand, and Hubert Dupuy. These streets are narrow and are very dangerous when there are vehicles parked on either side, therefore, for the safety of all there will be no more parking on these streets.

TWO public hearings will be held in preparation for a request for funds from the Community Development Block Grant Program. This is to give the citizens a chance to voice their opinions as to how the funds should be used. One meeting will be held at 6:00 PM on February 10,1977 and the other on February 11, 1977 at the same time, at the Addis Town Hall, Addis, Louisiana.

Stickers to be put on your telephones with the new telephone number to call to report a fire are being printed and will be distributed as soon as they are ready.

Another phase of cleaning the ditches by the Naylor Pipe Cleaning Company will be started as soon as the weather permits.

It was agreed that the carnival parade route should be cleaned before and after the parade. Alderman Rabalais will see that this is done.

A.J. Cedotal, the garbage removal contractor, has informed the council that the dumping grounds are getting very scarce and strict. If he is forced. to travel farther to dump he will have to increase his price.

The town's efforts to improve the litter problem has not been effective and it was agreed that more drastic measures will have to be taken.

The census has been taken and now the verification by the Secretary of the State Treasurer is necessary.

A motion was then made by Mr Rabalais, seconded by Mr. DeBlanc and carried that the meeting be adjourned.
