Regular Meeting: August 5, 2009
TOWN OF ADDIS MINUTES
The regular meeting of the Mayor and Town Council was held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at the Addis Municipal Center. Mayor Pro-Tempore led the meeting in the absence of Mayor Bourgeois. The Pledge to the Flag was led by Clerk Vera Lucas.
Roll Call: Present: Councilmen Cazes; Gauthreaux; Landry; Parrish; Mayor Pro-Tempore Toups.
Absent: Mayor Bourgeois
Minutes: The minutes of the regular meeting of July 1st were approved, as mailed, on a motion Councilman Gauthreaux, 2nd by Councilman Landry and adopted.
The minutes of the July 29th special meeting were approved, as mailed, on a motion by Councilman Cazes, 2nd by Councilman Parrish and adopted.
Additions to Agenda: A census resolution, LCDBG discussion, and monthly trash pickup were added to the agenda on a motion by Councilman Gauthreaux, 2nd by Councilman Cazes and adopted.
Sewer Report: The sewer report, read by Mayor Pro-Tempore Toups, included 18 equipment failures, 3 jammed pumps, 4 leaks, 1 tank installation and 2 miscellaneous calls. Sewer tie-in inspections were 2-Sunset Place; 3-Sugar Mill; 2-Plantation Ridge.
Police Report: The police report, given by Assistant Chief Jones included 220 traffic citations issued; 14 misdemeanor arrests; 1-felony arrest and 6 vehicle crashes worked. The misdemeanor arrests were: 4-traffic; 2-disturbing the peace; 1-warrant; 1-narcotics; 5-damage to property; and 1 dangerous animal permit. The felony arrest was on one warrant.
Assistant Chief Jones advised that three pit bulls were picked up in River Bend Trailer Park.
Planning & Zoning: There was no action to take.
Parish Council: Mr. Mouch advised that the parish has completed work on the parish canals. He invited all interested to attend the Parish Council meeting next Thursday, August 13th at 6:30 p.m. Speakers will be present to discuss moneys which may be available to the Parish.
Mr. Mouch advised that the Brusly High Alumni softball tournament at Myhand Park this past weekend went well with no incidents reported.
Old Business: There was no old business to discuss.
New Business: LCDBG: Mayor Pro Tempore Toups advised that Mayor Bourgeois spoke with Mr. Ed Hannum who recommended that the Town apply for LCDBG money to redo Peter Messina Road.
A motion was made by Councilman Cazes, 2nd by Councilman Gauthreaux to accept the recommendation of Mr. Ed Hannum, consultant, to make an application for a LCDBGrant to improve Peter Messina Road, under the Streets and Roads portion of the grant program. The motion was adopted.

Census Resolution: A resolution affirming the Town of Addis' support of and partnership with the 2010 Census was offered by Councilman Landry, 2nd by Councilman Parrish and adopted.
A complete copy of the resolution is attached to and made a part of these minutes.
Monthly trash pickup: Councilman Gauthreaux advised that he received complaints about the monthly trash pickup. Mr. Mouch advised that he will contact Mr. Jason Manola and have him talk to Allied Waste about the various complaints received.
Committee Reports: Finance: A motion to pay bills presented that are found in order was made by Councilman Cazes, 2nd by Councilman Gauthreaux and adopted.
Sewer: None Police: None Personnel: None Drainage: None Building: An area near the Main Street fire station will be inspected for clean-up.
Mr. Leveron advised that there are two large holes at the corner of Molaison and Ed LeJeune and the other at the corner of Guidry and Ed LeJeune. These will be checked into.
Adjourn: The meeting was adjourned at 7:23 p.m. on a motion by Councilman Gauthreaux, 2nd by Councilman Parrish and adopted.
