REGULAR MEETING OF THE VILLAGE OF ADDIS, APRIL 9, 1973

The regular meeting of the Village of Addis was held on April 9, 1973 with the following members present: Mayor Earl E. Deville, Jr., Aldermen Warren Fitzgerald, and Riley Berthelot. A Quorum. Mr. Joseph Delapasse has moved out of the town limits and is no longer with the Council.

A motion was made by Alderman Berthelot, seconded by Alderman Fitzgerald and carried that the minutes of the regular meeting of March 7, 1973 be adopted.

It was agreed by the council that a new battery be bought for the old town tractor.

Mr. Fitzgerald made a motion that Mayor Deville's expenses of $73.26 while attending the three day Municipal Convention in Lake Charles and Chief of Police Tuminello's expenses of $21.00 while attending the one day Chief of Police's Convention in Alexandria be paid. This was seconded by Mr. Berthelot and carried .

Plans are being made to remove a large tree which is located near the fire station. The leaves from this tree have been cluttering the gutters on the building and causing trouble with their drainage.

Three men submitted their names for consideration as a replacement for the vacancy on the council created by the resignation of Alderman Joseph Delapasse. These were Mr. Ronald Aillet, Carroll Bourgeois, and Peter M. Strauss, Jr..

A  motion was then made by Alderman Fitzgerald, seconded by Alderman Berthelot and unanimously passed that the following resolution be introduced and adopted.

RESOLUTION:

WHEREAS, under the Revised Statutes of the State of Louisiana, the Village of Addis, has the authority to name members on the Board of Aldermen upon the vacancy on the board, and ;

WHEREAS, there was a vacancy created by the resignation of a member of the Board of Aldermen, Mr. Joseph Delapasse,

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Board of Aldermen have named Peter M. Strauss, Jr. to replace Mr. Delapasse and have requested that the Honorable Edwin W. Edwards, Governor of the State of Louisiana, issue a commission to Mr. Strauss as a, member of the board of Aldermen.

YEAS: Berthelot, Fitzgerald.

NAYS: None

The cost of the new Police Car is $3667.52. This includes sales tax and title. It was agreed by the council that this be provided from Federal Revenue Sharing Revenues.

The remaining town bills were inspected and given approval for payment.

There being no further business to come before the board a motion was made by Alderman Berthelot, seconded by Alderman Fitzgerald and carried that the meeting be adjourned.

A motion was made by Alderman Fitzgerald, seconded by Alderman Berthelot that the following traffic tickets be retired; reason unable to locate or collect from these people. This motion was carried.
